Conrad is a specialist in electricity market design, system operations and network planning with some 30 years of experience in Government and with Transpower’s system operations, grid investment and commercial business areas.  Prior to that, he headed NZ’s defence operational research effort.

More recently Conrad was the Principal Advisor on the NZ Battery Project, analysing the system and market operation and integration of major pumped hydro, with a focus on security of supply.

Conrad has wide-ranging experience in the sector, from the detailed design and implementation of optimisation engines and market rules, through to policy and sector reform.

Conrad has a masters in mathematics and operational research from Cambridge University.
