October 2025: Waikato Regional Energy Flows
We developed an interactive Sankey diagram that visualizes energy flows for the Waikato region in 2024, showing how energy moves from its sources through transformations to its end uses - and the associated emissions at each stage. The interactive diagram brings together data on electricity generation, fossil and renewable fuel use, and sectoral consumption across industry, transport, agriculture, commerce, and households. It provides a data-driven picture of how energy is produced, imported, exported, and used within the region, as well as where losses and emissions occur. |
