Paul is a specialist in climate change mitigation with 15 years of experience.
Paul worked for the Climate Change Commission for five years from its inception. He helped build the Commission’s analytical functions to deliver advice on emissions budgets, decarbonisation pathways, and Emissions Trading Scheme settings, and led its first report monitoring the country’s progress towards emissions reduction goals. Prior to this, Paul had stints at the Ministry for the Environment, the Productivity Commission, the Morgan Foundation, and as an independent consultant. He was also a co-founder of youth climate advocacy group Generation Zero in 2011 and played a central role in its successful campaign for a Zero Carbon Act. Paul brings strong quantitative and modelling skills and extensive knowledge of the Aotearoa New Zealand climate policy system. He holds a BSc (Hons) and MSc in physics from the University of Otago. |
