David led a cross-team effort to provide research and policy advice, and support with meetings, workshops, consultation papers and reports for the 2018-19 Electricity Price Review.  Simon led analysis of an extensive retail pricing dataset to draw new insights into market dynamics and consumer outcomes.

Ross has worked closely with Chorus as they prepare for entry to new regulatory arrangements for fibre telecommunications services.  This wide-ranging engagement builds on practical business experience and regulatory expertise to help Chorus fast-track development of new capabilities.

Simon led a multi-client research project investigating the role that hydrogen technologies could play in the New Zealand energy system.  It involved development of ground-breaking modelling of the economics of green hydrogen in the specific context of New Zealand's hydro-dominated electricity system.

Simon has worked with the Climate Change Commission to develop a model of the NZ economy to support carbon budgets and associated policy recommendations.  The model incorporates detailed economic analysis of emitting sectors and models physical drivers of outcomes and inter-linkages between sectors.

David provided expert evidence to assist with resolution of a contractual dispute between two New Zealand energy businesses involved in the oil and gas sector. ​

Simon produced projections of New Zealand's gas sector out to 2050 for the Gas Industry Company.  The modelling that underpinned these projections considered the interaction between the economics of gas supply and the four main gas-using demand sectors.

Ross and David have worked with Local Government New Zealand as they engage with central government on waste-, storm- and drinking-water reform.

Simon led a research project on behalf of three of New Zealand's largest network companies investigating the issues and options associated with large-scale EV uptake in New Zealand.

David and Simon have led the preparation of independent market reports and forecasts used in connection with capital raising or business refinancing for a range of energy sector businesses.

David has provided expert evidence in support of applications to develop hydro, wind, and geothermal generation projects.

Simon and Ross worked with Wellington Electricity to design and test the impact of new time-of-use pricing.  This work included matching customer-level half-hourly consumption data with census deprivation data to model the socio-economic impact of pricing changes.  Simon and Ross have also advised the Electricity Authority and numerous network companies on the broader principles and practice of tariff reform.
