In response to customer demand, from September 2024, we are preparing quarterly electricity price forecast reports. These draw on the knowledge and tools we have built up through our consulting practice, and include a written report and access to a dashboard that can be used to drill down and download results.

We have worked with the Climate Change Commission to develop a model of the NZ economy to support carbon budgets and associated policy recommendations. The model incorporates detailed economic analysis of emitting sectors and models physical drivers of outcomes and inter-linkages between sectors. This model also informs our regular carbon and gas forecasts.

We produce projections of New Zealand's gas sector out to 2050, using modelling that considers the interaction between the economics of gas supply and the four main gas-using demand sectors. See our forecasting page for more details.

We worked with Wellington Electricity to design and test the impact of new time-of-use pricing. This work included matching customer-level half-hourly consumption data with census deprivation data to model the socio-economic impact of pricing changes. We have also advised the Electricity Authority and numerous network companies on the broader principles and practice of tariff reform.

We conducted a multi-client study assessing various policy options for incentivising EV uptake in New Zealand. We previously also undertook a research project on behalf of three of New Zealand's largest network companies investigating the issues and options associated with large-scale EV uptake in New Zealand.

We undertook a multi-client research project investigating the role that hydrogen technologies could play in the New Zealand energy system. It involved development of ground-breaking modelling of the economics of green hydrogen in the specific context of New Zealand's hydro-dominated electricity system.
